Eudora - It's Free!

We now support Eudora, it is very low cost (the lite version is free). It is a nice little interface between your POP/SMTP internet mail server and EForm. Download a free copy.

How to use Eudora

We support all Eudora clients versions 3.0 and greater because Eudora is, for the most part, MAPI compliant. This section details how to configure Eudora and some strange behaviors you may experience.

Installation:

Select the Tools:Options item from the menu, then select the MAPI icon and make the dialog box look like the following illustration.

Next, quit all other applications and run the program named "Swmapi.exe" which is located in your "programs/qualcomm/Eudora" folder. Your copy might be located elsewhere, you may need to use the Find Files feature to locate it. Run Swmapi.exe and you should see the following dialog.

This program will allow you to switch between Microsoft's mail system and Eudora’s. You should select the "Install Eudora MAPI System" button to allow EForm to work with Eudora.

Known Strange Behavior:

Incorrect email addresses for some received mail.

Eudora incorrectly determines the sender’s address when you receive some email messages. We have provided a workaround that should take care of the problem. Please contact us if you have ever receive email messages with blank addresses.

Eudora doesn’t read all messages in the "InBox"

When EForm asks for all unread messages Eudora reports that there is only one message waiting regardless of the actual number. You must always tell EForm to read Read and Unread messages from the mail and processing window.

Error while deleting attached file

Eudora may display an error when checking your inbox from time-to-time if you have deleted an attachment to a message currently in your inbox.  The solution for this behavior is to remove the message from your inbox by either deleting it or moving it to another folder inside Eudora.

Don’t be discouraged, Eudora is a great program and it’s free. QualComm has been made aware of these problems and hopes to have them fixed in the next release.
